Like you, we are keeping up with the most recent COVID-19 developments and with that, are using trusted resources as we plan. The Minnesota Department of Health and the American Camping Association have resources as we plan for safe and vibrant camp experiences. We continue to plan to operate in the safest way possible based on what we know TODAY. If this landscape changes, we will update our protocols as necessary and invite you to visit this page for updates.

What kind of things are you doing to protect campers from COVID-19 this summer?
In consultation with our local and state officials and in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control, we have developed strategies to mitigate the risk of COVID-19. Outdoor ministry inherently is lower risk based on location, activities, and risk mitigation plans that are in place.
Being outdoors, symptom checking, wearing and testing as needed are the cornerstones of our mitigation plan. And in addition to the above, we have a communication plan in place to share updates to campers and staff as we hear of illness in our camp community.

How will my camper’s experience look different from a typical summer?
The main place that you will notice differences from pre-pandemic experiences is how we handle illness on site. When symptoms arise that are consistent with that of COVID-19, we will communicate with parents, test the individual, and have the camper to mask while actively showing symptoms. In cases where the camper tests positive, we will quarantine the camper, call home to schedule a pickup, communicate with others in the camp community about potential exposure, and test those who were in close contact.
Large group worships, games, and activities that highlight the Christian community and faith celebration is ever present in each camp week!

Can the pastor and youth staff from our congregation still come to camp this summer?
Yes! Resource staff will be able to join us at camp! If you are interested in being a Resources Staff, please register at https://gllm.campbrainregistration.com/ just like your campers! Availability is first come, first serve.

What will happen if a case of COVID is suspected at camp?
The Minnesota Department of Health has developed guidance for schools, youth, and childcare programs that is clear and easy to follow — it’s likely your child’s own school has used this same guidance this year. Following their guidance, we will take great care to isolate any campers or staff who are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms.
