2025 Pastor's Family Camp Topic
Practicing Patience in a World Unraveling - Patience is not inaction. Patience is not wasting time. Patience is not complacency. Instead, patience is a fruit, a fulfillment, of the Holy Spirit's work among the Body of Christ. It is a spiritual practice that can promote longevity in ministry, depth of relationship, clarity in mission, and intimacy in our relationship with God. During the week, we'll bring together scripture, the writing of Martin Luther and other Christian mystics, and "The Patient Ferment of the Early Church" by Alan Kreider to explore how patience has been understood throughout the life of the church and how it might be applied in our own ministry settings. Selected readings will be provided during camp.
Courtney R. Young is a bi-vocational Lutheran pastor and writer from Minnesota. She graduated from St. Olaf College in 2008 with a BA in English. She enjoys helping people better integrate their faith life into their daily life. She was honored to spend the first part of her career in campus ministry. Currently, she is serving as an interim pastor and writing a book. She lives in Richfield, MN with her husband, two children, two cats, two dogs, and a half dozen house plants.

It checks all the boxes--time outdoors, time together, great songs, worship, prayer, laughter, treats, and new friends--all of it surrounded in the beauty of God's creation. Paul is a pastor and Susan a deacon, currently serving at Transfiguration Lutheran in Bloomington. They also love to volunteer at the Minnesota Orchestra, travel, camp, cook, and read. Looking for Family Camp Up North? Try Ordinary Time at Camp House this year!
ordinary timeCamp House
Sometimes we yearn for routine, an ordinary rhythm to our day or week. The simple fact is that life is busy, yet there is value in slowing down, taking a breath, and being fully present with the people around you. We find ourselves seeking places and spaces that offer rest, connection, and renewal. Ordinary Time, a faith-centered rhythm at Camp House provides this and so much more. Each day you’ll encounter opportunities for learning, creating, playing, and being. Devotions and worship are woven with times of conversation, education and artistic classes, reading on the beach, canoeing around Lake George, or exploring sights along the North Shore. Camp House will be on Ordinary Time for five weeks this summer. Pastors, musicians, artists, and educators will inspire participants' spiritual and creative sides, guiding all those present into an intentional Christian community. Camp House staff will offer opportunities to take part in the uniqueness of this beautiful site - daily saunas, games on the ball field, pizza in the brick oven, and evening fellowship in the lodge. |
