Roy Eliason volunteer of the year award
This award is named for Roy Eliason, longtime employee and volunteer at camp. Roy served as the seasonal Program Director for many years between seasons of teaching, and helped establish Green Lake Bible Camp. After his time on staff was done, Roy helped with any projects, varying from reopening Camp House to building bunk beds, constructing Dinner Theater sets to whatever odd jobs staff needed help with. He passed away in December 2017, not too long after helping to build the Dinner Theater set for that year.
This award is presented annually at the Volunteer Banquet - a personalized coffee mug, a nod to the many coffee breaks taken over the years. |
2019: gwen steffen
Sometimes working at camp means wearing many hats and filling many different roles. Gwen Steffen, longtime volunteer and friend of camp, has done just that. Steffen has done just about it all: worked as Development Secretary, hosted weddings in the Green Lake Stave Chapel, acted as Camp Gardener and kept the flower beds looking beautiful, answered phones in the office, assisted with the annual Quilt Auction and completed mailings with the Merry Mailers. She even painted the Stave Chapel basement once! She has not been able to come by as often in the past year, and we have certainly missed her wit and passion for helping at camp. Thank you so much Gwen!

2018: bob imsdahl
Dave Eliason presented the first Roy Eliason Volunteer of the Year Award to Bob Imsdahl, Roy Eliason's long time friend and sidekick. Bob has helped with a large variety of building projects at camp, including Dinner Theater sets, painting cabins, and bunk beds. He has helped with Merry Mailer projects and stuck many labels to newspapers with a cup of coffee in hand. We're so thankful for his commitment to lending a hand whenever possible. Thank you Bob!
