Serve Boldly provides opportunities to accompany and serve our neighbors while growing in awareness of God’s presence in the world.

The very call to serve comes from a deep Lutheran passion to love our neighbor. We are happy to further the ministry of ELCA congregations in each community we serve.

We accompany and serve alongside existing ministries by grounding our plans in the ongoing relationships we have with community leaders.

We believe that engaging in faith practices, such as service, devotions, and worship, the Holy Spirit speaks to us, and our awareness of God’s presence in our lives grows.

We empower youth in grades 6-12 (and young adults) by providing opportunities to lead. Participants return home
with a passion for faith and justice.

about serve boldly

Serve Boldly began in 2012 as three ELCA congregations with a passion for serving others. To provide youth with a meaningful opportunity to serve, grounded in a Lutheran understanding of loving your neighbor, those three youth groups gathered in Nashville, TN. That first trip sparked the beginning of many relationships: friendships between youth; partnerships with congregations, connections with community organizations, and deep bonds with those they served. Serve Boldly quickly became a 501(c)(3) organization with a board of directors and a staff. In 2022, the ministry of Serve Boldly was gifted to Water's Edge Ministries (formerly Green Lake Lutheran Ministries.)

At the heart of Serve Boldly is the relationships that God has placed in our path with one another. The ministry of Serve Boldly is a journey taken with many companions, where participants meet the unexpected and sometimes unrecognized Christ who walks with us. In this journey, we break bread and learn together as we move towards accompaniment.
