It is our hope that this information will assure you that we are working hard to provide a safe, vibrant, and fun time for all who participate in a GLLM program this summer. We know it’s a lot of information so thank you for taking the time to read through so we can all have a great summer. First, we invite you to read through the Summer Camp Orientation Packet below.
If you still have questions, more detailed information can be found at below. You are also welcome to contact us at [email protected] or 320-796-2181.
How do I register for summer camp?
Registration is available online and via mail. Visit Registration Details or contact us at 320-796-2181 with questions.
What programs are for me?
Programs should be registered for based on the grade your camper has completed by the summer of 2024. To make it easy, we’ve provided detailed descriptions of all our programs online. With a variety of options and many weeks throughout the summer, we hope there is something for everyone!
How much does camp cost?
GLLM uses fee levels for our pricing model. GLLM believes everyone should have the opportunity to attend camp, there are options for those requesting financial assistance. Please check with your congregation as many offer scholarships. In addition, GLLM has scholarships available. To apply, fill out the online form or print a GLLM Scholarship Application to include with your mailed camp registration or contact the camp office at 320-796-2181.
When is my balance due?
Final camper registration fees are due May 23, 2024. If you register for camp after this date, we ask that camp be paid in full prior to arrival.
If I have to make a cancellation, is my deposit refundable?
Cancellations received 30 days before the camper arrival date will receive a full refund minus a $50 administration fee. All other cancellations are non-refundable. Exceptions may be made due to family emergencies and illness.
When do I turn in the Health Form?
Current health information is needed for all GLLM summer camp participants, and is part of the online registration process. Those registering by mail will receive a copy of the required health form after they are registered. All health information should be received at least two weeks prior to your arrival at camp.

What if my child needs to arrive late or leave early?
We are usually able to accommodate those who have minor scheduling conflicts. Please contact our registrar in the office at 320-796-2181 or [email protected] to discuss any late arrivals, early pick-ups, or other scheduling conflicts. Prior communication ensures safety and ease of drop-off/pick-up for those campers and others at camp.
What if I cannot pick up my child?
To ensure the safety of all our campers, we document the name and contact information of the individual who will be picking up each camper. If a direct relative is unable to pick up your camper, please notify us when the camper arrives so we can document your information and that of the individual picking up your child. In the event that your pick-up arrangements change while your child is at camp, please call our camp office at 320-796-2181 and tell us what changes need to be made.
Can my child request a roommate?
Absolutely! In order for this to work effectively, we ask that roommate requests be made 1 week prior to arrival for camp. Requests can be made If you did not make a roommate request when you registered, you can contact our registrar at [email protected] or 320-796-2181. Roommates must be registered for the same program at camp in order to room together.
What should my child pack?
A sleeping bag, pillow, appropriate clothing, a Bible, and toiletries is a good place to start. You can find a comprehensive packing list at the end of the Summer Camp Orientation Packet.
Can my child bring a cell phone or other electronics?
We ask all campers to leave their cell phones and electronics at home. Camp is a time to unplug and be fully present in a faith and fun filled community and we invite you to read more on our cell phone policy. If electronics are brought, camp reserves the right to remove them from the owner to be returned at the end of the week. Camp is not liable for any electronic devices broken or stolen while at camp.
What if my child needs medication while at camp? What if they have a health concern?
We take our camper safety seriously. Each program has a designated staff member trained to handle basic medical protocol. Medications are collected and distributed by our staff. In the event that a more serious health situation arises, we work with our local clinic and have medical professionals on stand-by to help. Parents will be notified should these situations arise.
What if my child has food allergies?
Information such as this should be included in your registration process. In the case of serious food allergies, please contact our registrar at 320-796-2181 at least 2 weeks prior to your child attending camp. **Special note: All of our sites are peanut free in the summer. We will not serve any food or have any food on-site that contains peanuts. However, we may have food that was processed in a plant that contains peanuts.
How much canteen money should I send with my child?
A suggested amount for the canteen is around $30. Campers have access to the canteen twice each day to purchase snacks, trinkets, and/or apparel.
What is “Dime-a-Time?”
“Dime-a-Time” is a GLLM canteen tradition! Each year we choose a non-profit or other good cause and allow our campers to donate and raise money for it. Campers can choose to donate up to $1 each time they visit the canteen. As incentive, cabin leaders do wild and fun things as the campers reach certain benchmarks. In previous years, our campers have raised money for the ELCA Malaria Campaign, New London’s The Link, and the ELCA’s Young Adults in Global Mission Program.
This year we are supporting Lutheran Disaster Response, who is dedicated to helping the church remain a source of support during disasters, following Christ's call to offer hope and healing to our neighbors in need. They bring God’s hope, healing, and renewal to individuals whose lives have been impacted by disasters in the U.S. and around the globe. Emphasizing the principles of accompaniment, they walk alongside communities in a spirit of interdependence and mutual support. Recognizing that every disaster is local, they believe that local communities and organizations are best suited to meet the needs that arise. Even after the immediate crisis fades and media attention shifts, they remain committed to providing ongoing assistance to those affected. Their key areas of focus include:
What if there is a storm?
GLLM has thorough procedures in place for stormy weather. Each site has designated storm shelters for severe weather and staff are trained in how to engage and support campers during such a weather event. If severe weather requires us to end a program week early, families will be contacted.
Does your camp require background checks on your staff?
All camp employees go through a thorough background check and screening process.
Can my child call home?
Calling home can detract from the overall camp experience by drawing a camper’s attention away from camp, inhibiting their ability to form relationships and learn effectively. If your child becomes sick or injured, you will be notified by our staff. If your child experiences an extreme case of homesickness, their cabin leader or Assistant Program Director (APD) may contact you and stay with your child while they visit with you.
Can I visit my child while they are at camp?
For many of the same reasons as phone calls, we advise you don’t visit your camper during the week. If a family situation arises that requires you to see your child, please contact us.
Can I email my child?
At this time, this is not an option. We suggest sending letters and postcards to your camper. They love mail!
